Abstract :
I will review recent progress in reproducing the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of
supersymmetric black holes in Anti-de-Sitter space by counting BPS states in the
dual CFT. I will focus in particular on a limit in which the CFT reduces to ordinary
quantum mechanics and the counting problem has a precise mathematical formulation
in terms of the growth of the dimensions of certain cohomology classes.
